Bio
Matt Wisotsky is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and improvisor currently based in northern New Jersey. His work focuses on combining the Western classical tradition with other stylistic influences, such as jazz and contemporary performance practice. He has premiered works with numerous ensembles in the Northeast including the Berkshire Symphony, Williams Concert Choir, and New Music Williams. Other recent highlights include being a guest composer/performer at the 2024 I/O New Music Festival, directing and conducting the musical Next to Normal as well as Sarah Kirkland Snider's song cycle Penelope, and receiving an ASCAP Plus Award for composition work during 2023. Additionally, he has been active as an arts administrator with several organizations.
Matt recently received a BA in Music with Highest Honors as well as a BA in Mathematics from Williams College, graduating cum laude. While at Williams, he received the Robert G. Barrow Memorial Prize for Music Composition. He is currently a freelance musician and hopes to pursue graduate studies in composition or acoustics in the future.
